Four JD(S) Workers Die In Colombo Terror Attack Confirms H D Kumaraswamy, Three Others Missing

Four out of seven JD(S) workers who were touring Sri Lanka have died in the devastating Colombo terror attack which has killed over 200 people. The three others continue to remain missing.

The news of their death was confirmed by Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy who identified the deceased as:

  • Lakshmana Gowda Ramesh
  • K M Lakshminarayan
  • M Rangappa
  • K G Hanumantharayappa

He expressed deep sorrow at the deaths of his party workers who he personally knew. The workers are believed to have been the residents of Bengaluru.

Earlier External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had confirmed the deaths of two JD(S) workers. As per Kumaraswamy a fifth body has been recovered which will be identified by a group from Karnataka returning from Kandy.

India’s High Commission in Colombo would release details of the two missing workers as soon as it makes a breakthrough.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan authorities have confirmed that Islamist terror outfit National Thowheed Jamath is behind the attack. The government has also admitted to a major intelligence lapse and journalists claimed that it was alerted multiple times by a friendly country over the possibility of such an attack.
