Free Kashmir poster at Gateway of India (Pic Via ANI)
Footage of a woman holding “Free Kashmir” placard at a protest against JNU violence held at Mumbai’s Gateway of India has gone viral on social media.
The woman in question has since then been identified as a certain Mehak Mirza Prabhu who is said to be a stage artist.
This poster drew sharp criticism from various quarters including former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis who posted a scathing tweet on this issue.
Incidentally, senior Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut who until recently had a reputation of taking a nationalist stance, was quoted as trying to defend the poster.
Raut claimed that the poster was not about Aazadi but about lifting communication restrictions in the union territory. He also added that “if anyone talks of freedom of Kashmir from India then it will not be tolerated”.
