From Keeping The Doctor Away To Becoming The Doctor: Apple Watch To Send Notifications For Irregular Heartbeat

Apple released a new update to its watch series four and achieved the feat of making such a small device capable of taking an electrocardiogram (ECG). It will also send notifications if the user has irregular heartbeat, reports Live Mint.
The feature which was announced during an event in September came live last week. All the older series watches will also support the irregular notification feature but lack the ECG.
The watch makes this check five times in 65 minutes in non-periodic intervals and sends notification if it detects irregular heart rhythm. The irregular rhythm can lead to a condition called atrial fibrillation which can increase the risk of stroke and other complications.
When notifications appear the users can take an ECG and share the report with doctors. The ECG is available only in latest series four watch.
Earlier the series four watch was shipped with fall detection feature. The watch can detect the difference between trip and fall, and it will suggest calling 911 or other equivalents out of US when it detects fall.
If the user does not respond to the suggestion, it will place an emergency call, and message family and friends contact added in the emergency list.
