Global Carmakers Including Audi Pledges To Halt Combustion Engines And Shift To Electric Vehicle Models

Audi’s announcement to launch only completely electric vehicles from 2026 onward furthers the trend of major carmakers pledging to stop or massively reduce the production of cars with internal combustion engines from 2030-2035 onward.
Similarly, German carmaker BMW too has enhanced its targets for the sales of electric cars in order to meet the emission limits set by the European Union (EU). The iconic brand will be investing around 400 million euros to set up a manufacturing line for electric vehicles at its factory in Munich.
Similarly, car group Volkswagen has planned to ensure that sales of electric cars account for 60 per cent of its European sales by 2030.
Accordingly, Porsche is aiming to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030. Japanese automotive manufacturer Toyota has set a target of 2025 for hybrids to comprise a whopping 70 per cent of its overall sales.
The popular Mercedez Benz maker Daimler will be doubling the sale of its fully-electric and hybrid models this year. For the long-term, it is planning for electric cars to account for 25 per cent of its sales by 2025 and 50 per cent of the same by 2030.
Meanwhile, Lamborghini has also drawn a roadmap to switch towards the electric model for its luxury sports cars, Agence France-Presse reports.
