The government on Monday (29 June) partially relaxed the export norms for Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) medical coveralls for Covid-19, allowing the shipments of the product with a monthly export quota of 50 lakh units, reports The Hindu.
"Boosting Make in India exports, Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) medical coveralls for COVID-19 have been allowed with a monthly export quota of 50 lakh," Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said in a tweet.
The PPE medical coveralls, which were earlier banned for export, have now been moved to the restricted category.
“A monthly quota of 50 lakh PPE medical coverall for COVID-19 units has been fixed for issuance of export licence to the eligible applicants to export PPE medical coveralls for COVID-19 as per the criteria to be separately issued in a trade notice," the Director-General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in a notification on Monday.
The product was earlier banned for the export to fulfil its requirement in the country due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
