Indian security forces in West Bengal have sent at least 18 Rohingya refugees into Bangladesh, Dakha Tribune has reported.

According to the report, security forces sent the refugees into Bangladesh through the Satkhira border. The Rohingya refuges reached Kalaroa Chandanpur in the district on Friday morning, said local Union Parishad Member Md Nazrul Islam.

“At 7 in the morning, these people suddenly entered my home, which is about 100 yards from the border,” Nazrul was quoted by the Dhaka Tribune as saying.

The refugees say they had been living in West Bengal for the last three years.

According to the report , Chandanpur UP Chairman Monirul Islam has confirmed the incident. “I have sheltered them for now at my home and provided them with food for humanitarian reasons,” Nazrul Islam was quoted as having said.

Swarajya, however, was unable to independently verify the authenticity of this report.

This report comes just days after the Supreme Court said it will have a detailed and holistic hearing from 21 November on the contentious issue of governments decision to deport Rohingya Muslims to Myanmar.
