Cab aggregator Uber has partnered with the central government’s flagship healthcare insurance scheme, Ayushman Bharat in the quest to facilitate free healthcare for several drivers associated with the firm.

Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY)- National Health Authority (NHA), the apex body implementing the Ayushman Bharat has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Uber.

As per the government, Uber under its Uber CARE initiative, which is for its drivers and delivery partners, shall facilitate the setting up of common service centres (CSC's) at Partners Seva Kendras across India.

"Through this partnership with Uber, we hope to reach out to lakhs of people and their families in the driver and delivery community to bring the benefits of this transformative scheme and help secure their health and economic security," said the CEO of NHA as reported by Economic Times.

Delivery partners and drivers would be required to pay a mere Rs 30 to obtain an Ayushman Bharat card to provide access to the services under the scheme.
