In Gurugram, duo arrested for allegedly slaughtering a bovine in Greater Noida have been sent to jail, reports The Hindu. The accused, Zahid and Yaqub, were arrested on 25 May after police raided former’s residence in Noorpur after receiving a tip-off about beef being stored there.
SHO of Jarcha police station, Prabhash Chandra, informed that not only 20 kg of beef and 10 kg of another meat were recovered, stored in a refrigerator, but also weapons. Two countrymade weapons with live cartridges along with the chopper were discovered from the house during the raid.
The meat has been sent to the forensic laboratory at College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry in Mathura for formal confirmation.
“The arrested were sent to jail on the same day as the IPC sections under which they were booked were non-bailable. The case is under investigation,” said Chandra. A police officer added that another Bisada incident was prevented from happening.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
