In a significant development, Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana yesterday (17 July) launched the live streaming of case proceedings from the Gujarat High Court and assured that the Supreme Court would also start the initiative soon, reports The Times of India.

CJI Ramana emphasised that even though the judicial system in the country had always been open as people are allowed to witness court proceedings, with live streaming, access to justice will become an actual reality.

CJI Ramana added that litigants and interested parties would get to witness, understand, and comprehend the justice dispensation first-hand as a result. He further underscored that live streaming would also remove several incorrect notions in the people's minds regarding the justice delivery system.

CJI Ramana said that the formalisation of the live streaming of court proceedings is the best cure for the aforesaid malady, and added that the people would get first-hand information about the proceedings and the opinions of the judges, leaving little room for mischief.
