Gurugram: DPR Of Metro Linking Huda City Center, Sector 23 Submitted To HMRTC; Work Likely To Start This Year

The detailed project report (DPR) of the Gurugram metro route linking Huda City Centre with Sector 23, has been finally completed after a delay of three months and is submitted to Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC), Times of India has reported.
The project report prepared by RITES Limited, an engineering consultancy company, was discussed by officials of Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and RITES last week.
“The report has been submitted by RITES to HMRTC, and it will be sent to the Centre for its approval soon. After this, we can expect to start the work. We hope that work on the project can be started this year itself,” a senior GMDA official was quoted in the report as saying.
According to the official, the metro route will start from Huda City Centre and go up to Sector 23. It will connect Subhash Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk, Expressway near Sector 101 and 104 and sectors 4, 5, 9, 9A, 10 and 10A.
As per the report, 19 stations were initially planned on the metro corridor but the authorities has decided to 22 stations in the revised plan.
The move is expected to bring relief to thousands of homebuyers on Dwarka Expressway who were demanding a metro link connecting the new sectors along the expressway.
The delay in the project report, according to an official, was caused due to change in the route and change in guard of the GMDA twice within last five months.
The metro project is being jointly developed by GMDA and HMRTC at a cost of Rs 1,785 crore in order to decongest Gurugram.
