A retired senior official of Haryana’s Excise and Taxation Department is set to pay Rs 26 lakh from her pension dues along with a monthly Rs 5,000 pension cut for causing loss to the state exchequer through her actions, Tribune has reported.
The retired Deputy Excise and Taxation Commissioner (DETC), Kamla Chaudhary is to pay Rs 26,74,104 from her retirement dues which are currently being withheld by the department.
The orders against the official came after a Lokayukta-initiated probe into a Rs 10,600-crore scam detected in the Haryana Excise and Taxation Department. An SIT headed by IPS officer Shrikant Jadhav was formed to investigate the matter which led to the indictment of several officers. Chaudhry is the first senior official from the department to face such action.
Chaudhry was issued a charge-sheet under Rule 7 of the Haryana Civil Services (Punishment and Appeals) Rules, 1987 as part of the probe. She however, has termed the order wrong and said that she will move against it in court.
