Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has put up its design for a space-suit on display at the Bengaluru Space Expo.
According to a report by News 18, the Gaganyaan System Module will include some remarkable technological advancements from ISRO. It includes a thermal protection system, crew escape system and a new space-suit developed by ISRO at Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre over the span of the last two years.
There have been two space-suits designed so far, and there are plans by ISRO to develop a third. It comes with an oxygen cylinder, that supplies enough air for an hour.
ISRO had earlier announced that India will see its first manned mission by 2022, to commemorate 75 years of Indian independence.
The suit is made of four layers, and weighs less than 5 kilograms. The first crewed mission is expected to last somewhere between five days to a week, which aims to carry three astronauts into the orbit.
