In a one of a kind initiative, the Uttar Pradesh (UP) government has invited young professionals to help it manage the Kumbh Mela in Allahabad next year.
The Prayagraj Mela Authority, Allahabad, that works under the state government, recently put out a recruitment notice on its website titled ‘Kumbh Young Professionals’. The notice says the government is is “looking to engage the services of Young Professionals (YPs) for their support in effective planning and execution on contract basis”.
A total of 10 posts are available. The minimum qualification required is MBA/PGDM/MCA, along with fluency in English and Hindi. Candidates under 35 can apply. They will be paid a compensation of Rs 50,000 a month. They would be hired on contract for 12 months.

Among other tasks, the candidates will help in coordination, management and monitoring support to the Mela Development Authority, and assist in data collection, management and analysis.
The Kumbh is one of the world's largest religious gathering and is held on a rotational basis in either of the four riverside towns of Haridwar, Allahabad, Nasik and Ujjain. The Maha Kumbh is held every 12 years at Allahabad while the Kumbh every six years. In Allahabad, the last Maha Kumbh took place in 2013 and was attended by an estimated 10 crore people over two months.
