High Marks In Some Boards, Lower In Others: Centre Asks CBSE To Remove Disparity

Union Minister Satya Pal Singh, on Thursday (6 December), said that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had been instructed by the centre to review the removal of ‘disparity in marks’ awarded to the examinees by it and by the various state board.
"We have already sent an instruction to the CBSE to discuss with other state boards on the issue," said the Union Minister as reported by India Today.
An example was cited by Singh where he said that when students from different boards seek admission in undergraduate courses of a University it is found that their marks range from 85 to 90 per cent, the University then has to make a comparison between different board’s papers and strike at ratio to arrive at an admission formula.
The CBSE is now in the process of discussing this issue with various other state boards. However, maintained awarding marks remained in the hands of in the domain of school education department of the respective state boards claimed Singh.
