The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has floated its first tender related to the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project, Indian Express has reported. The tender is for a bridge in Navsari district of Gujarat. This will be the first of 60 odd bridges that will be built in the 508 km Mumbai-Ahmedabad line. NHSRCL has been trying to resolve land acquisition issues in Navsari.

The NHSRCL has also been successful in resolving land acquisition issues in Palghar where resistance to the project has been high. The project requires 300 acres of land in Palghar. “We have been able to establish dialogue with all the concerned in the villages so that there are no misgivings or lack of understanding about the project, as well as what we offer to the locals,” Dhananjay Kumar, NHSRCL spokesman has told The Indian Express. Political resistance to the project has been mounted by the Shiv Sena and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS).

The report says that only 0.9 hectare of the 1,400 hectares is required for the project. In spite of this fact, officials of NHSRCL have expressed confidence that they will be able to meet the deadlines.
