Signalling a hardened stance against the Taliban in Afghanistan after abruptly cancelling the peace deal post long drawn negotiations, the US President Donald Trump has said that the the US is hitting ‘the enemy’ harder than ever, Mint reports.

“Over the last four days, we have been hitting our Enemy harder than at any time in the last ten years!" Trump declared.

A US-Taliban peace deal had been in the works for several months which would have led to an almost complete US troop withdrawal from Afghanistan after over 18 years of the conflict. The deal was set to conclude on 1 October after several rounds of ‘Doha Deliberations’ between various stakeholders.

However, the deal was cancelled by the US President after a bomb blast that killed one US soldier and 11 others in Afghanistan. Uncertainty again looms in the war-torn nation with the deal standing cancelled. The US President however, threatened against any future attacks on US soil.

"If for any reason, they come back to our country, we will go wherever they are, and use power, the likes of which the United States has never used before," Trump said in his Pentagon speech at the 9/11 anniversary.
