One of the co-accused in a case of cow slaughter, identified as Imran, in Delhi’s Harsh Vihar has been taken into custody by the special cell of Delhi Police, reports India Today. Imran and three others, who had already been arrested by police, are accused of slaughtering a cow in order to create communal tensions in the area.
The incident had taken place on Holi (21 March), when locals spotted parts of a slaughtered cow and its foetus close to the boundary wall of an establishment. People there protested against the same but overall calm was maintained by police personnel.
While the other three accused persons, Parvez, Lukman and Insallaham were arrested by the police earlier, Imran had been able to evade arrest by constantly changing hideouts in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
He has admitted to his involvement in the matter and told the police during interrogation that the group had decided to carry out the slaughter of a cow on Holi in order to incite communal disturbance in the area. Imran also revealed that his family’s business was the purchase and sale of cows.
