Bhaodohi district Congress president along with a few office-bearers have resigned the party on Saturday (11 May) and alleging humiliation from the All India Congress Committee general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the News 18 reports.
“A complaint was made to Priyanka Gandhi about Congress candidate Ramakant Yadav not coordinating with anyone in the unit Friday, and she was also told that none of the office bearers were invited for a rally here,” the Bhadohi district Congress president Neelam Misra said.
Priyanka Gandhi was in Bhadohi to support the party candidate Yadav and addressed an election rally on Friday (10 May).
According to Misra, she along with other office bearers approached Priyanka Gandhi since she was the eastern Uttar Pradesh in-charge for the party. Neelam Misra says that not only the AICC president ignored their problem but also “strong words” against her in public.
“But the AICC general secretary paid no heed and said if they are feeling humiliated over this, then they can continue to feel this way,” Misra said while adding, “but it seems that she does not have the thinking that could encourage the partymen.”
The office bearers held a meeting after resigning and decided to support the SP-BSP alliance candidate Rangnath Misra for the election scheduled on Sunday (12 May).A
