The 10 km rail stretch of the Hyderabad metro between Ameerpet and Hi-Tech City will be operational by December. N V S Reddy, managing director of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) has assured that work was in progress according to schedule.

Reddy said, “Metro work is pretty good and it is going as per schedule and by the end of December this year we will start the service from Ameerpet to Hi-Tec City line ” as reported by Metro Rail News.

The opening of the 16 km stretch of Hyderabad Metro Rail between Ameerpet and L B Nagar in September this year has made the entire track 46 km long, and has made Hyderabad the second largest metro rail network after Delhi in the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 30 km stretch out of the 72 km long elevated HRRL project between Miyapur and Nagole last year in November.

The Hyderabad Metro Rail project has earned the title of ‘Best Urban Mass Transit Project’ by the Centre which branded the project as “unique” due to its features. It was called as an outstanding project due to various engineering and financial innovations, says Reddy.

In November, at the Urban Mobility India Conference held in Nagpur, The project has also earned the award of Excellence, received jointly by N V S Reddy and L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited MD, K V B Reddy.

“Hyderabad Metro Rail has emerged to be a successful example of Public-Private Partnership initiative (PPP). It is an urban redesign and rejuvenation effort to transform the city into people-friendly green environment," stated the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
