Hyderabad Twin Bomb Blasts Case: Yasin Bhatkal, Four Others Sentenced To Death

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) court has today (19 December) sentenced five convicts in the 2013 Hyderabad bomb blasts case to death. The five Indian Mujahideen (IM) operatives include Yasin Bhatkal, the terrorist group’s co-founder. They were tried under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Explosives Substances Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
According to PTI, this is the first time that members of the militant group have been convicted and awarded a sentence by an Indian court.
A special NIA court in Hyderabad had on Tuesday last week (13 December) found the five IM operatives guilty of being involved in the twin blasts at Dilsukhnagar in February 2013 that claimed 18 lives and injured 131 others.
