Eminent technological institute IIT Kanpur has once again done the country proud by creating an intelligent ground vehicle named Daksh-II which bagged prizes in four different categories of an international competition taking place in Michigan, United States (US), reports Jagran.

In the international competition which saw participation from teams from US, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan and others which came with their intelligent ground vehicles, the IIT Kanpur team bagged second place in Grand Challenge, third in Auto Navigation Challenge, third in Interoperability Profile Challenge, and fourth in Cyber-security Challenge.

Daksh-II uses Artificial Intelligence and Internet-of-things and was prepared by 13 students of Aerospace department under the guidance of Professor Mangal Kothari. The vehicle is capable of rerouting after sensing obstructions in its way. It also captures the photos and sends them to the operator. The professor also said that the vehicle uses stereo vision camera, LIDAR, wheel encoder, and is also hack-proof.

The vehicle can be developed for reconnaissance and surveillance purposes in remote areas where human-access is difficult and risky. IIT will work in the direction of developing Daksh-II further.
