Three valiant police officers from the Jammu and Kashmir state have been honoured with the prestigious Shaurya Chakras, with two of them having been bestowed with the honour posthumously, reports the Indian Express.

Head Constable Subhash Chander was awarded the honour along with Sub Inspector Imran Tak, and SPO Aashiq Hussain Malik, both of whom laid their lives in the line of service to the nation.

The nation lost Sub Inspector Tak during an encounter with terrorist forces on 17 November 2017 in Srinagar. During the encounter, one terrorist was nabbed, another killed while Tak had gotten serious injuries which he could not sustain.

Meanwhile, SPO Malik who was a resident of Anantnag died on 22 June 2018 in a joint operation which was being carried out against terrorists who were hidden in a house in Bijbehara area of Kashmir Valley. By the end of the operation, four terrorists had been neutralised, while Malik succumbed to heavy injuries.

On the other hand, Head Constable Chander has a record of gallantry and is already a recipient of the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Medal for killing a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist in Sopore of Kashmir Valley.
