In his second Mann Ki Baat radio programme after returning to power with a larger mandate than in previous Lok Sabha elections held in 2014, the Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi said on Sunday (28 July) expressed confidence that development in Jammu and Kashmir would win over guns and bombs, reports Livemint.

PM Modi also emphasised that those involved in spreading violence in the state would never succeed in their design. "People who would to stop the process of development would never succeed in their nefarious design. The people of the state want god governance," he said.

PM Modi also shared that the 'Back to Villages' programme which was carried out in the state of Jammu and Kashmir for a week witnessed various government officials including seven senior officials visiting different villages to get a grasp of the people's problems and to decipher the reasons why development didn't reach people.

He further added that some of the problems which came up during discussion before the government officials were shortage of electricity, drinking water woes, education and schooling.

PM Modi also apprised the people that, "The officials visited all the 4,500 panchayats in Jammu and Kashmir, even those panchayats which are prone to cross border firing."
