India Crosses 2 Million Vaccinations In A 24-Hour Period Mark For The First Time Since Rollout

According to the latest data released by Ministry of Health and Family Affairs, India, for the first time since the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccination, has crossed the 2 Million (20 lakh) vaccinations in a 24-hour period mark.

The data shows that around 20 lakh and 20 thousand persons were vaccinated in the 24 hours preceding 7.00 am, 9 March 2021. The tally of total doses stands at 2.3 crore.

According to the health ministry website, close to 7.5 lakh tests were done during the previous day.

Today, International Monetary Fund (IMF) chief economist Gita Gopinath lauded India's fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and said that the nation's vaccine policy "really stands out".

Saying that India is at the forefront in the fight against the pandemic, Gopinath hailed the nation for playing a very important role in helping the world during the crisis by manufacturing and shipping critical doses of the vaccines to several nations.
