In a significant development, India may likely procure and deploy anti-drone technology across military establishment around the country, reports Hindustan Times.

The report further adds that the armed forces are already carrying out drills with the Israeli anti-drone SMASH 2000 Plus systems which may be purchased on an immediate basis.

The development comes in the wake of dubious drone activities which has become a cause of concern for the security forces. As per reports, drones were used to carry out the twin explosions in the technical area of Jammu air based.

On Monday (28 June), suspected activities of drone were detected at Kunjwani in Jammu. According to security forces, over 300 drones and unidentified flying objects have been sighted along the sensitive border with Pakistan after the abrogation of Article 370 on 5 August 2019.

The intelligence has warned that India is not fully equipped to deal with these new lethal sky-floaters.

The Israeli anti-drone SMASH 2000 Plus systems are fitted on a rifle and can target drones flying at high speeds. The report further adds that Indian Navy has already started the process of procuring these drones, while the same would be taken up by Indian Army and the Air Force shortly.
