The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) headed by Union Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday (15 February) slammed Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for commenting on Kashmir and asked him to not interfere in India's internal matters, reports Hindustan Times.
Calling on President Erdogan to develop a sound understanding of facts including the threat of terrorism emanating from Pakistan, India rejected the references to Jammu and Kashmir made by him in his address to Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
“India rejects all references to Jammu and Kashmir, which is an integral and inalienable part of India,” MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said.
“We call upon the Turkish leadership to not interfere in India’s internal affairs and develop proper understanding of the facts, including the grave threat posed by terrorism emanating from Pakistan to India and the region,” Kumar added.
In his address to Pakistani parliamentarians, President Erdogan had vowed that Turkey would support Pakistan's stand on Kashmir. He also assured Pakistan that Turkey will back Pakistan in its efforts to come out of the stringent Grey List of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
