India Successfully Test-Fires Nuclear-Capable Agni-I Missile

India successfully test-fired an indigenously built nuclear-capable Agni-I missile from a test range off the Odisha coast today (22 November).
Agni-I is a medium-range ballistic missile developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) under the Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme. It is a single-stage missile developed after the Kargil War to fill the gap between 250 km range of Prithvi-II and 2,500 km range of Agni-II.
It was first launched on 25 January 2002 from a road mobile launcher at Integrated Test Range (ITR), Wheeler Island off the coast of Odisha.
On Monday (21 November), India successfully test fired two Prithvi-II missiles, which have a strike range of 350 km and are capable of carrying 500 kg to 1,000 kg of warheads. The tests are being performed as a part of India’s plan to conduct three nuclear-capable missile tests in three days.
According to Sputnik International, India will test long-range, subsonic cruise missile Nirbhay on Wednesday (23 November).
