India test firing quick reaction surface-to-air missile (@ANI/Twitter)
India on 26 February has successfully test-fired a Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM) from a test range off the coast of Odisha, reports ANI.
The missile is developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for the India Army. The air defence system, QRSAM, was fired from Chandipur in Balasore district Odisha
India Today has reported that the missile is an all-weather, all-terrain missile equipped with electronic measures to counter jamming by aircraft radars, and is also capable of tracking.
QRSAM has a range of 25-30 km and uses solid-fuel propellant. The first test firing of the missile took place on 4 June 2017, and this was followed by a second successful test on 3 July 2017.
The QRSAM test fire has come after the Indian Air Force (IAF) launched airstrikes at various terror camps across the Line of Control (LoC).
Sources later said that the IAF demolished entire terror set up in the suicide bombing training centre in Balakot, and around 300 terrorists were believed to have been eliminated in the covert operation.
