India Takes Firm Stance Against Chinese FM’s Delhi Visit, Says Can’t Directly Come After Touring Pakistan

India has asked Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to reschedule his trip to New Delhi after he wanted to visit the country along with his trip to Pakistan this weekend, sources said, reports The New Indian Express.
According to the report, amid the Pakistan government’s hue and cry over India’s decision to revoke the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, Wang is scheduled to visit Islamabad on 7 September.
Following his Islamabad visit, the Chinese FM wanted to travel to New Delhi. However, India saw it as an attempt to hyphenate the India-Pakistan relationship and therefore asked Wang to reschedule his New Delhi visit, according to the sources.
The move is unlikely to have any effect on the Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to India later this year, sources said.
As per the report, India does not want any hyphenation of its relations with Pakistan and hence has been preventing such attempts. Indian position on the matter is that any foreign leader can visit New Delhi on a standalone trip, without trying to hyphenate the ties.
India has, in fact, asked leaders of some other nations too not to come to New Delhi if they combined it with their trip to Pakistan.
