India will receive its first batch of S-400 air defence system by September 2021 the Rosoboronexpert head said on Wednesday (20 November), reports United News Of India.
“Russia will deliver the first batch of its S-400 missile systems to India in September 2021,” Rosoboronexport Director General Alexander Mikheev told Sputnik at the Dubai Airshow
'We had received the first payment from the Indian government under the contract for delivering S-400 systems. This is a very positive moment for activating the planned work on producing the first elements of the system," Mikheev said.
India had signed the deal with Russia for the purchase of five S-400 systems during the 19th India-Russia Annual Bilateral Summit held in New Delhi on 5 October, 2018. The S-400 can engage targets at a distance of 400 km and at an altitude of up to 30 km.
India has already made a payment of $850 million for this advanced air defence system.
