Indian Air Force Gets Delivery Of Two More Chinook Helicopters From Boeing; Total Strength Rises To Six

The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Monday (8 July) received the delivery of two more Boeing made Chinook helicopters taking their total strength to six. The IAF had received first the delivery of four CH-47F (I) Chinooks in February.
The two Chinooks have arrived at Gujarat’s Mundra port and would soon begin operations.
Earlier, four Chinooks were officially inducted in the Indian Air Force’s 126 Flight squadron on 25 March. They will be based out of the Chandigarh Air Force base.
The Chinook is known to be a versatile transport helicopter which has been tested in operations in many battle zones. It also has one of the heaviest load-carrying capacities among military transport helicopters. A single Chinook helicopter can carry up to 45 soldiers and has a maximum payload capacity of 10 tonnes.
In total, IAF will receive the delivery of 15 Chinook helicopters along with 22 Apache AH-64E attack helicopters under a $3 billion deal signed with the US manufacturer.
