Indian, Chinese Troops Face-Off In Ladakh More Than A Year After Last Such Confrontation

The soldiers of Indian and Chinese army were involved in a face-off in Ladakh on Wednesday (11 September) morning, more than a year after last such incident, reports The New Indian Express.
According to report, sources said that the face-off happened when an Indian Army patrol was moving in the northern bank of Pangong lake in Ladakh. During their patrolling, Chinese troops objected to their presence. Many areas of the lake are disputed.
“On Wednesday morning there was a face-off between the Indian Army and the Chinese PLA when they objected to our troop movement in the area,” a senior Army officer was quoted in the report as saying.
The officer added that the Indian Army stood their ground as they were within India’s territory.
The two sides returned to their bases following the face-off, which was first such instance since the troops of two countries confronted each other in Burtse in northern Ladakh in July 2018, after the Chinese built a temporary hut.
“There was a face-off between the two armies but it got over after the delegation-level talks between two sides," Indian Army said in a statement, as reported by ANI.
“The face-off is over now and it had de-escalated and disengaged fully after delegation-level talks yesterday," it said.
The Army also stated that such incidents happen due to differing perceptions of the LAC and there are established mechanisms to resolve such differences.
