An Indian farmer has died and two others were injured after the Nepal Police reportedly opened indiscriminate fire on them across the India-Nepal border in Bihar’s Sithamarhi, reports Times Now.

The report claims that the victim identified as 25-year-old Nageshwar Rai. He was a resident of Janan Nagar Tolle Lalbandi.

Rai was reportedly going to his in-laws’ house situated near the India-Nepal border when a row erupted between him and Nepali cops manning a border check post. It soon turned deadly when the cops thrashed him and nearby villagers rushed to the scene. Soon at least 17 rounds of shots were fired and Rai as a result lost his life.

The Sashastra Seema Bal IG confirmed the firing and the resultant casualties.

This news comes amid rising belligerence by Nepal against India. Recently Nepali Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli had attempted to unveil a new map of the country to claim Indian territories as its own. It later suffered a setback when Nepal’s opposition parties refused to back him over the issue.

Oli even accused India of being responsible for the spread of Coronavirus in Nepal by alleging that the virus from India “looks more lethal” than Chinese and Italian variants.
