Vehicles and health personnel attacked in Moradabad
Amid the reports of attacks on doctors and healthcare workers from various parts of the country, the Indian Medical Association on Monday (20 April) warned that it would observe 23 April as Black Day if the government did not bring in a central law to stop that.
In a statement, that was reported by the Times of India, the associations said, “If the government fails to enact Central Law on violence against doctors and hospitals even after White Alert, IMA will declare Black Day on April 23.”
"Our legitimate needs for safe workplaces have to be met. Abuse and violence should stop immediately. White Alert to the nation - All doctors and hospitals to light a candle at 9 pm on 22 April, as protest and vigil," it further read, while seeking strict action against the attackers.
The IMA also said it will take decisions if the authorities do not take suitable measures to stop the incidents.
Meanwhile, the centre has instituted six Inter-Ministerial Central Teams (IMCT) to take stock of the situation of violent attacks on healthcare workers, violation of lockdown and social distancing norms.
