Indian Railways To Hold Computer-Based Tests For 1.4 Lakh Posts In Three Categories From 15 December

In a major employment booster, the Indian Railways is set to start conducting computer-based examinations for around 1.4 lakh posts from 15 December onwards, reports Economic Times.

Indian Railways had received many as 2.42 lakh applications for these posts, which include 35,208 posts in non-technical popular categories like guards, office clerks, commercial clerks and others. Apart from this, the posts include 1,663 vacancies for isolated and ministerial categories like steno and teaches and 1,03,769 level-one vacancies such as track maintainers and pointsman.

Announcing the development, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Railway Board VK Yadav said that the examinations could not be held until now because of the COVID-19 pandemic. He also shared that a detailed schedule for the examinations would be announced soon.

Yadav shared, since now the experience of holding examination for JEE and NEET is there in place, it was felt that the Railways could also begin the process which had been stopped due to the pandemic.

The standard operating procedures for the conduction of the examination are presently being framed by the Railways.
