India's Covid-19 Tally Increases To 13.36 Lakh With 48,916 New Cases; Death Toll Rises To 31,358

With a spike of 48,916 new cases in the last 24 hours, the Covid-19 tally in India has surged to 1,336,861, the Union Health Ministry data revealed on Saturday (25 July).

According to the Health Ministry, of the total, 4,56,071 are active cases while at least 8,49,432 people have been cured of the disease.

The number of Covid-19 deaths in the country has increased from previous day's 30601 to 31,358, an increase of 757 in the last 24 hours.

Maharashtra, which has emerged as the worst Coronavirus-hit state in the country, has so far recorded 3,57,117 cases, including 13,132 fatalities, and 1,99,967 recoveries. Tamil Nadu followed with 1,99,749 cases.

The Covid-19 tally in Delhi has crossed the 1.28 lakh-mark with as many as 1,28,389 cases recorded so far, the third-highest tally in the country. Karnataka has reported the fourth highest tally of 85,870 cases.

States with most casualties after Maharashtra are Delhi (3,777), Tamil Nadu (3,320), Gujarat (2,278), Karnataka (1,724), Uttar Pradesh (1,348), West Bengal (1,290), Andhra Pradesh (933) and Madhya Pradesh (791).

States with more than 10,000 cases are Andhra Pradesh (80,858), Uttar Pradesh (60,771), West Bengal (53,973), Gujarat (53,545), Telangana (52,466), Rajasthan (34,178), Bihar (33,926), Assam (29,921), Haryana (29,755), Madhya Pradesh (26,210), Odisha (22,693), Kerala (16,995), Jammu and Kashmir (16,782) and Punjab (12,216).

Among other states/UTs where Corona cases have surged past 2,000-mark are Jharkhand (7,493), Chhattisgarh (6,731), Uttarakhand (5,445), Goa (4,540), Tripura (3,759), Pudducherry (2,515) and Manipur (2,146).
