India's Covid-19 Tally Rises To 3.95 Lakh With Highest Single-Day Spike Of 14,516 New Cases, Recoveries At 2.13 Lakh

With the highest single-day spike of 14,516 new cases in the last 24 hours, the Covid-19 tally in India has surged to 395,048, the Union Health Ministry data revealed on Saturday (20 June).

According to the Health Ministry, of the total, 168,269 are active cases while at least 213,831 people have been cured of the disease.

The number of Covid-19 death toll in the country has increased from Wednesday's 12,573 to 12,948, an increase of 375 in the last 24 hours.

Maharashtra, which has emerged as the worst Coronavirus-hit state in the country, has so far recorded 1,24,331 cases, including 5,893 fatalities, and 62,773 recoveries. Tamil Nadu followed with 54,449 cases. The Covid-19 tally in Delhi has crossed the 53,000-mark with as many as 53,116 cases recorded so far in the national capital. Gujarat has reported 26,141 cases so far.

States with most casualties after Maharashtra are Delhi (2,035), Gujarat (1,618), Tamil Nadu (666), West Bengal (529), Madhya Pradesh (495) and Uttar Pradesh (488).

States with more than 10,000 cases are Uttar Pradesh (15,785), Rajasthan (14,156), West Bengal (13,090) and Madhya Pradesh (11,582).

Among other states/UTs where Corona cases have surged past 2,000-mark are Haryana (9,743), Karnataka (8,281), Andhra Pradesh (7,961), Bihar (7,181), Telangana (6,526), Jammu and Kashmir (5,680), Assam (4,904), Odisha (4,677), Punjab (3,832), Kerala (2,712) and Uttarakhand (2,177).

According to the Health Ministry, 9,265 cases are being re-assigned to states.
