Flying High: India’s Domestic Air Travel Sees Double Digit Growth For The 48th Consecutive Month

India’s domestic airline sector saw double-digit growth for the 48th consecutive month, Economic Times has reported.
International Air Transport Association (IATA) has said that India's domestic air passenger volume measured in revenue passenger kilometres (RPK) was highest among major aviation markets. India’s RPK grew by 22.6 per cent in comparison to the same month last year.
"The industry experienced continued strong traffic growth in August, putting the cap on a very good peak travel season. The all-time record load factor reflects that airlines are maximising the efficiency of their assets at a time of rising fuel prices and other costs that are limiting the opportunities for low fare stimulation," IATA's Director General and CEO Alexandre de Juniac remarked on the release of industry data.
India’s traffic growth was followed by China (14.9) and Russia (13.2). Further, India’s domestic passenger capacity (available seat kilometres) grew by 16.1 per cent. This was followed by China (11.7 per cent) and Russia (11.4 per cent).
