Despite the ongoing tension between India and China at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh and its effect on the bilateral relationship, India's exports to China during the April-July period soared by 31 per cent to $7.29 billion, reports Indian Express.
The rise in India's exports to China is significant as it comes at a time when the nation's overall exports plunged by 29.99 per cent due to the economic disruption and chaos induced by the COVID-19 pandemic across the world.
In the same period last year, the nation's export to China totaled $5.57 billion. With the 31 per cent jump, India's exports to China have turned out to be the highest ever since the monthly trade figures are available online.
Also, with the latest jump, the share of exports to China in India's total exports has nearly doubled from 5.2 per cent in the same period last year to 9.71 per cent in April-July period this year.
Meanwhile, the tension between the two countries at the LAC continues as despite several round of talks at military and diplomatic level, Chinese PLA is yet to disegnage from Indian territory in Ladakh.
