India’s Got Talent? Not Much, According To IMD Business School Ratings, As Nation Slips Two Ranks To 53rd Position

According to the global annual talent ranking released by IMD Business School, Switzerland, India has slipped two places to rank 53, while the top slots have been retained by the Alpine nation itself. In Asia, Singapore has topped the charts with a ranking of 13 in the list of 63 participating countries.
Countries are ranked on the basis of three factors: Investment and Development, Appeal, and Readiness. These factors help understand the resources invested in nurturing national talent, the extent to which a country attracts talent and is able to retain it and the quality of skills available in the talent pool.
On asking the renowned institution about India’s ranking, it said, "On the one hand, the country performs above average in terms of the quality of its talent pool (Readiness factor, 30th position). However, the quality of its educational system and the lack of investments in public education heavily penalise the talent potential of the country, reports Times of India.
Among BRICS nations, Brazil ranked 58, South African 50, and Russia 46.
