A day after the Cabinet Committee on Security approved the purchase of 83 Tejas Mark-1A fighters, Indian Air Force chief Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria has said that the fighter is much better and advanced than Pakistan’s JF-17.
“Even the LCA FOC version is ahead of the JF-17. The Mark 1A variant of LCA Tejas will be further ahead,” the IAF chief told ANI.
The JF-17 fighter has already been inducted by the Pakistan Air Force in large numbers. It was developed jointly with China.
The IAF will soon sign a Rs 48,000 crore deal with the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited for 83 Tejas Mark-1A fighters. The new variant of the fighter will come with a large number of improvements over the Mark-1 variant. These improvements include better maintainability and an electronically scanned array radar.
