ISRO All Set To Give India Two More ‘Eyes In The Sky’ With Launch Of Two Advanced Risat Satellites This Month

In an unprecedented stride towards revolutionising India's capabilities to generate highly sophisticated and accurate imaging and surveillance, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to launch the powerful Risat-2BR1 radar-imaging earth observation satellite, reports the Times of India.
The launch would take place on 11 December, only a few days after launching in space the Cartosat-3 satellite, with the ever-powerful PSLV-C48 rocket firing off from Sriharikota. Once positioned in the orbit, the satellite would allow the security forces to keep surveillance over any spot on a daily and sustained basis.
The launch of Risat-2BR1 is part of a larger work plan under which the ISRO intends to launch as many as four to five advanced satellites. The first of the satellites was launched into space in May this year. And third one will also be launched days after the launch of Risat-2BR1, in the second half of December 2019 itself.
It should be duly noted that the powerful radars of Risat series satellites can easily see through clouds, even in the night times, enabling unprecedented 24x7 surveillance on the borders, helping to check infiltration bids.
