ISRO Bolsters Indian Military’s Space Capability: Successfully Launches GSAT-7A Satellite For IAF
GSLV-F11 blasting off to launch GSAT-7A (via DD News)
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully launched GSAT-7A military communication satellite using its GSLV-F11 launcher from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota Andhra Pradesh. The launch was the fourth generation system’s thirteenth flight, with the satellite (payload) weighing 2250 kg.
The satellite will be launched into Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) and it will be placed in Geostationary Orbit (GEO) using the on board propulsion system.
This version of the modular GSLV has three stages. First stage has four liquid strap-ons and a solid rocket motor at the core in bottom. The e second stage has liquid fuelled high thrust engine. The third stag has cryogenic engine.
GSAT-7A is a military utility satellite and will enable the IAF to interlink various ground radar stations, airbases, AWACS aircraft and will boost the network-centric warfare capabilities as well as enhance its global operations.
