It’s Raining Alliances: After AIADMK And Shiv Sena, BJP Announces Tie-Up With Akali Dal, In Punjab

After announcing alliances with All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in Tamil Nadu and Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in Punjab.
BJP President Amit Shah announced on 28 February (Thursday) that his party and its old ally, Akali Dal, will fight the upcoming general elections together in a similar seat sharing pattern of 2014- the SAD will fight on 10 and the BJP on three seats, reports Money Control.
In the meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh (UP)-based regional political parties Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Samajwadi Party (SP) have also announced an alliance to jointly contest the Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand in the upcoming 2019 general elections, reports Indian Express.
However, in both states, BSP will contest more seats than the Samajwadi Party. Among Uttarakhand’s five Lok Sabha constituencies, SP will contest from only one seat, the Garhwal district. On the other hand, BSP will field its candidates in the remaining areas.
In Madhya Pradesh, while SP will fight from three seats — Balaghat, Thikri and Khajuraho, BSP will contest in the rest 26 out of the total 29 constituencies
This coalition in the two states comes after the two parties stitched an alliance in UP, where the SP will fight in 37 seats and the BSP on 38. The remaining three seats have been allocated to Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD).
SP’s Founder Unhappy
Recently, Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav had slammed the Lok Sabha alliance stitched by his party with the Mayawati-led BSP. Mulayam, while speaking about the partnership with the BSP, claimed that SP members were internally destroying the party.
The SP patriarch had earlier stirred up a storm by endorsing Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a second term during a speech in the Lok Sabha.
