Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has decided to set up a grievance cell-cum-help desk at Ananda Bazar in the shrine, Times of India has reported. This measure has been taken to ensure that devotees are not fleeced.

The grievance cell will be jointly operated by SJTA and Suar Mahasuar Nijog (an association of servitors who prepare and sell Mahaprasad in the temple). “Our motive is to maintain discipline in Ananda Bazaar. Devotees should not suffer while purchasing the Lord’s Mahaprasad. The proposed grievance cell will address the problems of the pilgrims. We will open it soon,” SJTA’s Chief administrator Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra told Times of India.

The government operated temple is yet to fix the price chart for Mahaprasad sold in the temple. The temple body recently announced that it intended to have a uniform rate chart for all dishes. The kitchen of the temple offers 56 different types of Mahaprasad to an average of one lakh devotees every day. Prices for a meal vary between Rs 80 to Rs 250.
