Jagan’s ‘YSR Rythu Bharosa’ To Replace Naidu’s ‘Annadata Sukhibhava’: Farmer With Up To 5 Acres Land To Get Rs 50,000

Embarking on a re-branding spree, the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government of Andhra Pradesh has announced the launch of ‘YSR Rythu Bharosa’ under which every farmer holding up to five acres will be given financial assistance of Rs 50,000 over four equal instalments of Rs 12,500 each, beginning 15 October, reports The Hindu.
A similar welfare scheme, ‘Annadata Sukhibhava’ introduced by the previous TDP Government, was scrapped by the new dispensation. A sum of nearly Rs 1,822 crore has been disbursed to the beneficiaries of ‘Annadata Sukhibhava’ for which a sum of Rs 5,000 crore was allocated by the Chandrababu Naidu-led government.
Jagan said the benefit under ‘YSR Rythu Bharosa’ would be directly credited into the bank accounts of farmers. The CM instructed his Principal Advisor Ajeya Kallam to take a re-look at various schemes, introduced by the previous government, to achieve better outcomes, keeping in view the allegations of large-scale diversion of funds.
Jagan instructed the officials to take steps for distributing seed, fertilisers and other farm inputs at the village panchayats. The government would bear the burden of premium to be paid by farmers on the crop insurance scheme, the CM said.
