External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj inaugurated a ‘Jaipur Foot’ camp in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. The External Affairs Minister is on a four day two nation tour of South East Asia which includes Vietnam and Cambodia.
It had been earlier announced that thousand differently-abled people in Vietnam would be fitted with free Indian-made prosthetic foot also called ‘Jaipur Foot’. The Jaipur based Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS) had also organised an artificial limb fitment camp in Vietnam prior to the visit of the External Affairs Minister.
The External Affairs Minister met with 500 beneficiaries of the Jaipur foot at the camp inaugurated by her and she also lauded the contribution of the Indian diaspora in strengthening the ties between the two nations.
Appreciative of the role played by the diaspora in bringing a people-to-people connect, the External Affairs Minister’s visit is expected to consolidate the bonhomie between the two nations who have in recent years forged a closer strategic relationship.
