Four members of a family including a baby girl were injured when terrorists opened fire on a house in Dangerpora of Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla on Friday (6 September), Hindustan Times reported.

A tweet from Kashmir police informed, “Terrorists fired and injured four persons including a baby girl ( Usma jan) at #Dangerpora #Sopore. All injured shifted to the hospital and stated to be stable. Police on spot and investigation in progress.”

While the three other members of the family are said to be stable now, the two-and-a-half-year-old is still critical. According to news agency ANI, National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval has ordered for her to be immediately shifted the to All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), New Delhi.

As per an NDTV report, the attacked house was of a fruit trader who had refused to shut his shop after warnings from terrorists to oppose centre’s decision to end J&K’s special status under Article 370.

According to intelligence officials, terrorists have turned to civilian killings and violence to create a fearful atmosphere as Pakistan tries to send more terrorists into the valley.

"Separatists were expecting a violent public outrage against the abrogation of Article 370 and the complete integration of the state with the rest of the country. They also believed that their would be civilian casualties in clashes with the security forces. Nothing like that happened although there has been a general strike in the valley since August 5,” a top intelligence officer was quoted as saying by news agency IANS.
