Jammu And Kashmir: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Inaugurates First Phase Of Jammu Ring Road Project

Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday (21 August) inaugurated the first phase of the Jammu Ring Road Project, reports ANI.
The foundation stone for the 58.25-km-long Jammu Ring Road project, which is expected to boost the road connectivity and decrease traffic congestion in Jammu, was laid in 2018 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"It is a moment of great pride for me to inaugurate the first phase of the Jammu Ring Road project today, the foundation stone of which was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2018," Sinha said at the inauguration ceremony of the project.
"I feel that in the last six years not only the country's political situation has changed but the work culture has changed as well. It is because of the work culture, we have been able to achieve the administration," he added.
The LG said that if the Ring Road project gets completed ahead of the deadline, then a provision to give incentives can be formulated.
The proposed Jammu ring road is a greenfield alignment with four lane configuration. The ring road will decongest the Jammu city and pave the way for the through traffic in NH-1A that is crossing Jammu to Kashmir from other parts of the country, especially from neighboring states like Punjab.
The total length of the road is 58.25 km out of which 11.75 km section is in hilly terrain. The project includes two tunnels, eight Flyovers, 16 underpasses, four viaducts, 31 minor bridges, eight major bridges, 255 culverts, intersections, service roads and project facilities.
