Army recruitment rally (Representative Image) (ANI)
As normalcy takes hold in Jammu and Kashmir in a gradual fashion since the abrogation of Article 370, the ongoing recruitment drive for Special Police Officers (SPOs) has witnessed encouraging participation from female candidates for the posts, reports Asian News International (ANI).
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anita Sharma apprised the media persons that the ongoing drive has attracted competition among as many as 4,072 candidates of which a big number is comprised of women from backward districts of the erstwhile state.
Sharma also shared that most of these women have successfully qualified the rounds comprising marathon, shot-put and other such tests which demand physical well being.
Even though the minimum qualification to join the force as an SPO is matriculation, the drive has witnessed participation from much-qualified intermediates and graduates. One of the participants, after qualifying the shot-put and 1,000-meter long-run tests, said, "I want to serve my country and have no fear in the mind."
